Mitchell A. Battino, AAA has many years of experience as a professional numismatist, certified appraiser, and numismatic consultant specializing in buying, selling, and appraising gold and silver coins of the United States and the world, U.S. paper money, and other numismatic items. Based in New York and New Jersey, Mr. Battino owns and operates Hudson Rare Coins. He is an author, editor and contributor to several publications and pricing guides, and an experienced cataloguer. Mr. Battino is a member of numerous professional organizations, formerly serving as a Director of the Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG). Recognized by collectors and dealers for his integrity and expertise, Mr. Battino attends major coin shows and travels to purchase deals and collections
In January 1980, Mr. Battino began his professional career with the New York numismatic and bullion trading firm, Manfra, Tordella & Brookes, where he was chiefly responsible for daily U.S. Gold trading. In 1989 he joined Stack’s, where his responsibilities included buying, selling and cataloging United States and World coins, appraising collections and estates, obtaining auction consignments, and contributing to all aspects of the firm’s business. Mr. Battino has served as numismatic consultant to Christie’s and Spink, in New York and London, as senior numismatist for R.M. Smythe & Co. in New York, and as a consultant to other major numismatic firms. He is qualified as an expert witness in New York State.
